Over 130 years of willpower. The success story began in 1879 when Ernst Pickhardt and Rudolf and Adolf Siebert founded P+S producing oil print wallpaper and Lincrusta imitations.

Even then, the company strived to secure sales outside Germany and its wallpapers were exported to countries across the world.

Forging ahead undeterred: Shortly before the start of World War I, the Gummersbach-based company introduced collotype production to its portfolio. Business was forced to stop temporarily during the war. P+S resurrected its old distribution channels in the 1920s and began supplying them again and continued to expand its market. This successful period was interrupted by World War II, but the company again recovered from this setback and pushed ahead undaunted with production and sales worldwide during the economic boom period.

Once a pioneer, always a pioneer: The patented rotogravure wallpapers allowing photographic quality for the time, imitation wood and marble, for example, which were introduced in 1963, represented a high point in P+S's production history. The company also took on a pioneering role in the market with the packaging of wallpaper for 'household use'. At the beginning of the 1980s, P+S began to take environmental requirements on board and installed a pilot air purification system. Setting up a modern screen printing wallpaper production facility finally smoothed the way towards rational production processes. P+S celebrated its 125 year anniversary in 2004. At that time, production included acrylic, paper and embossed wall coverings, wallpapers with a profiled structure and flat vinyl wallpapers.
